Boarding & Pastoral

Taunton School International Middle School boarders live in pleasant boarding houses on a beautiful rural campus. Pupils share comfortable bedrooms, many with en-suite bathrooms. They are cared for by experienced house staff 24 hours a day and encouraged to enjoy the woodland environment of the Middle School as well as all the facilities of nearby Taunton School.

Staff understand that this is, for most children, their first experience of life away from home, and work hard to ensure a friendly, family atmosphere. Pupils are kept busy with a very full weekend activity programme but are also looked after individually and patiently when necessary. We are very experienced in helping children to adjust to boarding school life and our small, safe campus soon feels like a second home. Pupils move on into Taunton School, Taunton School Preparatory or other schools confident and fully prepared to participate and succeed.

Breakfast and supper are served in our dining room, which combines a traditional glass orangery with a brand new catering servery. Lunch is taken on the main Taunton School campus to enable a wide range of food and the opportunity to integrate with all the other Taunton School students. An on-site Matron looks after children who are unwell.

Games and sport are an important part of school life and we are lucky to have wide open rural space for woodland activities as well as the full range of sporting facilities offered by Taunton School. Pupils are also encouraged to join in with music and drama to make the most of school life.
