Welcome from the Principal

At Taunton School International we aim to meet students’ individual needs and to prepare them academically, socially and pastorally for their next school. Our students are part of the Taunton School community and are able to enjoy all of the school’s excellent facilities. Academically, students are placed into classes according to their English and Mathematics ability and they study a full curriculum of subjects, with lessons six days a week.   

Year 11 students go into Taunton School International for the one year GCSE programme. Depending on their ability, students on our GCSE courses are able to study up to 8 GCSEs a year from a choice of 21 different subjects. We also offer a Pre-IB course including Study Skills and Theory of Knowledge. We are delighted to be able to offer students this wide choice academically, which means that our programmes are excellent preparation for either A levels or the IB Diploma. International students are joined by native speakers who wish to gain the GCSE qualification in one year instead of the traditional two years.  

Students who are younger than Year 11 go into our Taunton School International Middle School, where the curriculum is wide ranging and compulsory, focussing on preparation in all the subjects that students will study when they move into mainstream British schools.  

Socially, students can choose from a huge range of different activities offered by Taunton School such as music, art, swimming, karate, golf and riding and they join the Taunton School boarders for a full programme of social events and cultural excursions at weekends.  

Pastorally, students get a lot of support and care from our dedicated and caring staff and there is always someone to help them if they need it. We have sixteen years of experience in caring for international students at Taunton School International.  As Principal, I am always available to students if they have any academic or pastoral needs and I am closely involved with placing students into their next school.
